A native of Tucson, Arizona, Staff Sergeant Kevin J. McEnroe was killed in Jordan on 4 November 2016 by small arms fire while supporting Operation INHERENT RESOLVE.

McEnroe enlisted in the Army in April 2008 as a Special Forces Candidate. After completing Infantry One Station Unit Training and the Basic Airborne Course at Fort Benning, Georgia, in September 2008, he graduated from the Special Forces Qualification Course as a Special Forces Communications Sergeant in December 2011. He was then assigned to 3rd Battalion, 5th Special Forces Group, Fort Campbell, Kentucky, deploying multiple times to the U.S. Central Command Area of Responsibility.

SSG McEnroe was conducting a Special Forces training mission in Jordan at the time of his death.
