A native of Leavenworth, Washington, Sergeant Leandro A.S. Jasso died 24 November 2018 as a result of wounds sustained by enemy forces in Khash Rod District, Nimruz Province, Afghanistan.

Jasso enlisted in the Army in August 2012. After completing Infantry One Station Unit Training at Fort Benning, Georgia, he completed the Ranger Assessment and Selection Program in 2013, and was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington. In 2013, he deployed in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM. Graduating from Ranger School in 2016, he deployed twice in support of Operation FREEDOM’S SENTINEL.

SGT Jasso was a team leader with 2nd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, supporting Operation FREEDOM’S SENTINEL at the time of his death.
