A native of Cortez, Colorado, Sergeant First Class Will D. Lindsay was killed in action on 22 March 2019 from wounds sustained in action in Kunduz Province, Afghanistan, during Operation FREEDOM’S SENTINEL.
Lindsay enlisted in the Army in 2004 as a Special Forces Candidate, completing One Station Unit Training and Airborne School at Fort Benning, Georgia. Graduating from the Special Forces Qualification Course in 2006 as a Special Forces Weapons Sergeant, he reported to the 10th Special Forces Group, Fort Carson, Colorado. He then served at the U.S. Army John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School, Fort Bragg, North Carolina, before returning to 10th Special Forces Group in 2015. He deployed multiple times to Iraq and Afghanistan.
SFC Lindsay was serving as an Operations and Intelligence Sergeant in 2nd Battalion, 10th Special Forces Group, at the time of his death.
