SSG Shamus O. Goare

A native of Danville, Ohio, Staff Sergeant Shamus O. Goare died 28 June 2005 when his MH-47 Chinook helicopter was shot down by a rocket propelled grenade near Jalalabad, Afghanistan, while supporting Operation ENDURING FREEDOM.
Goare enlisted in the Army as a Medium Lift Helicopter Repairer in 1994. After several assignments, including duty in Korea, he completed Green Platoon and was assigned as a Flight Engineer to 3rd Battalion, 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment, Hunter Army Airfield, Georgia.
SSG Goare was supporting Operation ENDURING FREEDOM at the time of his death.
