A native of Monroe, Michigan, Private First Class Eric W. Hario was killed on 29 August 2009 in Paktika Province, Afghanistan, while conducting combat operations.

Hario enlisted in the Army as an Infantryman in June 2008. On graduating in January 2009 from the Ranger Indoctrination Program, Fort Benning, Georgia, he served as a grenadier in 1st Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment, Hunter Army Airfield, Georgia.

PFC Hario was on his first deployment supporting Operation ENDURING FREEDOM when he was killed.
